"Let us be lovers we'll marry our fortunes together" "I've got some real estate here in my bag" So we bought a pack of cigarettes and Mrs. Wagner pies And we walked off to look for America "Kathy," I said as we boarded a Greyhound in Pittsburgh "Michigan seems like a dream to me now" It took me four days to hitchhike from Saginaw I've gone to look for America Laughing on the bus Playing games with the faces She said the man in the gabardine suit was a spy I said "Be careful his bowtie is really a camera" "Toss me a cigarette, I think there's one in my raincoat" "We smoked the last one an hour ago" So I looked at the scenery, she read her magazine And the moon rose over an open field "Kathy, I'm lost," I said, though I knew she was sleeping I'm empty and aching and I don't know why Counting the cars on the New Jersey Turnpike They've all gone to look for America All gone to look for America All gone to look for America

Guess I got what I deserved Kept you waiting there too long, my love All that time without a word Didn't know you'd think that I'd forget or I'd regret The special love I had for you, my baby blue All the days became so long Did you really think, I'd do you wrong? Dixie, when I let you go Thought you'd realize that I would know I would show the special love I have for you, my baby blue What can I do, what can I say Except I want you by my side How can I show you, show me the way Don't you know the times I've tried? [guitar solo (Joey Molland)] Guess that's all I have to say Except the feeling just grows stronger every day Just one thing before I go Take good care, baby, let me know, let it grow The special love you have for me, my Dixie, dear.

"Black Magic Woman" Got a black magic woman Got a black magic woman. I got a black magic woman Got me so blind I can't see That she's a black magic woman She's tryin' to make a devil out of me. Turn your back on me baby Turn your back on me baby. Yes, don't turn your back on me baby Stop messin' around with your tricks Don't turn your back on me baby You just might pick up my magic sticks. Got your spell on me baby Got your spell on me baby. Yes you got your spell on me baby Turning my heart into stone I need you so bad - magic woman I can't leave you alone.

Out in the street it's 6 am, another sleepless night Three cups of coffee, but I can't clear my head from what went down last night I know we both have our own little ways, but somehow we keep it together You hear me talk, but you don't hear what I say, I guess it don't even matter Blue morning, blue day, won't you see things my way? Blue morning, can't you see what your love has done to me? I've always listened to your point of view, my ways I've tried to mend And I've always been a patient man, but my patience has reached its end You tell me you're leaving, you tell me goodbye You say you might send a letter Well honey don't telephone, cause I won't be alone I need someone to make me feel better Blue morning, blue day, won't you see things my way? Blue morning, can't you see what your love has done to me? Blue morning, blue day, won't you see things my way? Blue morning, can't you see what your love has done to me? Blue morning, blue morning Blue morning, blue morning Blue morning, blue morning Blue, blue, blue day, yeah

There's a port on a western bay And it serves a hundred ships a day Lonely sailors pass the time away And talk about their homes And there's a girl in this harbor town And she works layin' whiskey down They say, Brandy, fetch another round She serves them whiskey and wine The sailors say Brandy, you're a fine girl(you're a fine girl) What a good wife you would be(such a fine girl) Yeah your eyes could steal a sailor from the sea Brandy wears a braided chain Made of finest silver from the North of Spain A locket that bears the name Of the man that Brandy loves He came on a summer's day Bringin' gifts from far away But he made it clear he couldn't stay No harbor was his home The sailors say Brandy, you're a fine girl(you're a fine girl) What a good wife you would be (such a fine girl) Yeah"But my life, my lover, my lady is the sea Yeah, Brandy used to watch his eyes When he told his sailor stories She could feel the ocean foam rise She saw its ragin' glory But he had always told the truth, lord, he was an honest man And Brandy does her best to understand At night when the bars close down Brandy walks through a silent town And loves a man who's not around She still can hear him say She hears him say:Brandy, you're a fine girl (you're a fine girl) "What a good wife you would be" (such a fine girl) "But my life, my lover, my lady is the sea" It is, yes it is, Say, Brandy, you're a fine girl (you're a fine girl) What a good wife you would be (such a fine girl) But my life, my lover, my lady is the sea

You've got to change your evil ways... baby Before I stop loving you. You've go to change... baby And every word that I say, it's true. You've got me running and hiding All over town. You've got me sneaking and peeping And running you down This can't go on... Lord knows you got to change... baby. When I come home... baby My house is dark and my pots are cold You're hanging eround... baby With Jean and Joan and a who knows who I'm getting tired of waiting and fooling around I'll find somebody, who won't make me feel like a clown This can't go on... Lord knows you got to change Organ Solo: (Repeat 2nd verse) Yeah ... Yeah ... Yeah ...

James Dean, James Dean I know just what you mean James Dean, you said it all so clean And I know my life would look all right If I could see it on the silver screen You were the lowdown rebel if there ever was Even if you had no cause James Dean, you said it all so clean And I know my life would look all right If I could see it on the silver screen We'll talk about a low-down bad refrigerator, You were just too cool for school Sock hop, soda pop, basketball and auto shop, The only thing that got you off was breakin' all the rules James Dean, James Dean So hungry and so lean James Dean, you said it all so clean And I know my life would look all right If I could see it on the silver screen Little James Dean, up on the screen Wond'rin' who he might be Along came a Spyder and picked up a rider And took him down the road to eternity James Dean, James Dean, you bought it sight unseen You were too fast to live, too young to die, bye-bye Too fast to live, too young to die, bye-bye Bye-bye, Bye-bye, Bye-bye, Bye, bye

Mama, take this badge off of me I can't use it anymore. It's gettin' dark, too dark for me to see I feel like I'm knockin' on heaven's door. Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door Mama, put my guns in the ground I can't shoot them anymore. That long black cloud is comin' down I feel like I'm knockin' on heaven's door. Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door

The rain is falling through the mist Of sorrow that surrounded me. The sun could never thaw away The bliss that lays around me. [Chorus:] Let it rain, let it rain, Let your love rain down on me. Let it rain, let it rain, Let it rain, rain, rain. Her life was like a desert flower Burning in the sun. Until I found the way to love, It's harder said than done. [Chorus] Now I know the secret; There is nothing that I lack. If I give my love to you, You'll surely give it back. [Chorus]

Once upon a time you dressed so fine You threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn't you ? People'd call, say, "Beware doll, you're bound to fall" You thought they were all kiddin' you You used to laugh about Everybody that was hangin' out Now you don't talk so loud Now you don't seem so proud About having to be scrounging for your next meal. How does it feel How does it feel To be without a home Like a complete unknown Like a rolling stone ? You've gone to the finest school all right, Miss Lonely But you know you only used to get juiced in it And nobody has ever taught you how to live on the street And now you find out you're gonna have to get used to it You said you'd never compromise With the mystery tramp, but know you realize He's not selling any alibis As you stare into the vacuum of his eyes And say do you want to make a deal? How does it feel How does it feel To be on your own With no direction home Like a complete unknown Like a rolling stone ? You never turned around to see the frowns on the jugglers and the clowns When they all come down and did tricks for you You never understood that it ain't no good You shouldn't let other people get your kicks for you You used to ride on the chrome horse with your diplomat Who carried on his shoulder a Siamese cat Ain't it hard when you discover that He really wasn't where it's at After he took from you everything he could steal. How does it feel How does it feel To be on your own With no direction home Like a complete unknown Like a rolling stone ? Princess on the steeple and all the pretty people They're drinkin', thinkin' that they got it made Exchanging all precious gifts But you'd better take your diamond ring, you'd better pawn it babe You used to be so amused At Napoleon in rags and the language that he used Go to him now, he calls you, you can't refuse When you got nothing, you got nothing to lose You're invisible now, you got no secrets to conceal. How does it feel How does it feel To be on your own With no direction home Like a complete unknown Like a rolling stone ?

I like to dream yes, yes, right between my sound machine On a cloud of sound I drift in the night Any place it goes is right Goes far, flies near, to the stars away from here Well, you don't know what we can find Why don't you come with me little girl On a magic carpet ride You don't know what we can see Why don't you tell your dreams to me Fantasy will set you free Close your eyes girl, look inside girl Let the sound take you away Last night I held Aladdin's lamp And so I wished that I could stay Before the thing could answer me Someone came and took the lamp away I looked around, a lousy candle's all I found Well, you don't know what we can find Why don't you come with me little girl On a magic carpet ride Well, you don't know what we can see Why don't you tell your dreams to me Fantasy will set you free Close your eyes girl, look inside girl Let the sound take you away Don't know what we can find Why don't you come with me little girl On a magic carpet ride You don't know what we can see Why don't you tell your dreams to me Fantasy will set you free Close your eyes girl, look inside girl Let the sound take you away

You got a lotta nerve To say you are my friend When I was down You just stood there grinning You got a lotta nerve To say you gota helping hand to lend You just want to be on The side that's winning You say I let you down You know it's not like that If you're so hurt Why then don't you show it You say you lost your faith But that's not where it's at You had no faith to lose And you know it

It's getting late have you seen my mates, Go on and tell me when the boys get here. It's seven o'clock and I want to rock, Want to get a belly full of beer. My old man's drunker than a barrel full of monkeys And my old lady she don't care My sister looks cute in her braces and boots with a handful of grease in her hair. Hey... Don't give us none of your aggravation, We've had it with your discipline. Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting, get a little action in. I get about as oiled as a diesel train, gonna set this dance alight. Cause' Saturday Night's the night I like, Saturday Nights Alright.. Alright, Alright! Well, we're packed pretty tight in here tonight and I'm looking for a dolly who'll see me right. I may use a little muscle to get what I need, and sink a little drink and shout out, "She's with me!". A couple of the sounds that I really like are the sound of a switchblade and a motorbike. I'm a juvenile product of the working class, who's best friend floats in the bottom of a glass. Don't give us none of your aggravation, we've had it with your discipline. Saturday Night's Alright for fighting, to get a little action in. I get about as oiled as a diesel train, gonna set this dance alight. Cause Saturday Night's the night I like, Saturday Night's Alright... Alright, Alright! Chorus: Saturday, Saturday, Saturday!........ Pete T.: Take me to the pilot, lead me to the chamber, Take me to the pilot, I am but a stranger, Na na na, na na na..... Chorus: Saturday, Saturday, Saturday!........

TaxI 71-10 06:41
It was raining hard in 'Frisco, I needed one more fare to make my night. A lady up ahead waved to flag me down, She got in at the light. Oh, where you going to, my lady blue, It's a shame you ruined your gown in the rain. She just looked out the window, and said "Sixteen Parkside Lane". Something about her was familiar I could swear I'd seen her face before, But she said, "I'm sure you're mistaken" And she didn't say anything more. It took a while, but she looked in the mirror, And she glanced at the license for my name. A smile seemed to come to her slowly, It was a sad smile, just the same. And she said, "How are you Harry?" I said, "How are you Sue? Through the too many miles and the too little smiles I still remember you." It was somewhere in a fairy tale, I used to take her home in my car. We learned about love in the back of the Dodge, The lesson hadn't gone too far. You see, she was gonna be an actress, And I was gonna learn to fly. She took off to find the footlights, And I took off to find the sky. Oh, I've got something inside me, To drive a princess blind. There's a wild man, wizard, He's hiding in me, illuminating my mind. Oh, I've got something inside me, Not what my life's about, Cause I've been letting my outside tide me, Over 'till my time, runs out. Baby's so high that she's skying, Yes she's flying, afraid to fall. I'll tell you why baby's crying, Cause she's dying, aren't we all. There was not much more for us to talk about, Whatever we had once was gone. So I turned my cab into the driveway, Past the gate and the fine trimmed lawns. And she said we must get together, But I knew it'd never be arranged. And she handed me twenty dollars, For a two fifty fare, she said "Harry, keep the change." Well another man might have been angry, And another man might have been hurt, But another man never would have let her go... I stashed the bill in my shirt. And she walked away in silence, It's strange, how you never know, But we'd both gotten what we'd asked for, Such a long, long time ago. You see, she was gonna be an actress And I was gonna learn to fly. She took off to find the footlights, And I took off for the sky. And here, she's acting happy, Inside her handsome home. And me, I'm flying in my taxi, Taking tips, and getting stoned, I go flying so high, when I'm stoned.

I am just a poor boy Though my story's seldom told I have squandered my resistance For a pocket full of mumbles, such are promises All lies and jests Still a man hears what he wants to hear And disregards the rest When I left my home and my family I was no more than a boy In the company of strangers In the quiet of the railway station Running scared, Laying low, seeking out the poorer quarters Where the ragged people go Looking for the places Only they would know Lie la lie, lie la la la lie lie Lie la lie, lie la la la la lie la la lie Asking only workman's wages I come looking for a job But I get no offers Just a come-on from the whores On Seventh Avenue I do declare There were times when I was so lonesome I took some comfort there, le le le le le le le Lie la lie, lie la la la lie lie Lie la lie, lie la la la la lie la la lie Then I'm laying out my winter clothes And wishing I was gone Going home Where the New York City winters Aren't bleeding me Leading me Going home In the clearing stands a boxer And a fighter by his trade And he carries the reminders Of ev'ry glove that laid him down Or cut him till he cried out In his anger and his shame "I am leaving, I am leaving" But the fighter still remains, mmm mmm Lie la lie, lie la la la lie lie Lie la lie, lie la la la la lie la la lie Lie la lie, lie la la la lie lie Lie la lie, lie la la la la lie la la lie Lie la lie, lie la la la lie lie Lie la lie, lie la la la la lie la la lie Lie la lie, lie la la la lie lie Lie la lie, lie la la la la lie la la lie Lie la lie, lie la la la lie lie Lie la lie, lie la la la la lie la la lie Lie la lie, lie la la la lie lie Lie la lie, lie la la la la lie la la lie Lie la lie, lie la la la lie lie Lie la lie, lie la la la la lie la la lie Lie la lie, lie la la la lie lie Lie la lie, lie la la la la lie la la lie

In the white room with black curtains near the station. Blackroof country, no gold pavements, tired starlings. Silver horses ran down moonbeams in your dark eyes. Dawnlight smiles on you leaving, my contentment. I'll wait in this place where the sun never shines; Wait in this place where the shadows run from themselves. You said no strings could secure you at the station. Platform ticket, restless diesels, goodbye windows. I walked into such a sad time at the station. As I walked out, felt my own need just beginning. I'll wait in the queue when the trains come back; Lie with you where the shadows run from themselves. At the party she was kindness in the hard crowd. Consolation for the old wound now forgotten. Yellow tigers crouched in jungles in her dark eyes. She's just dressing, goodbye windows, tired starlings. I'll sleep in this place with the lonely crowd; Lie in the dark where the shadows run from themselves.

about

Michael William Andersen Los Angeles, California

There was a Professional Rock Band in San Francisco in the Seventies. I had met Larry Hanson in about 1973 in Salt Lake City and he showed me how to play Rock Music. I thought I heard him on the radio with Styx after coming home from his house one day. I bought decent equipment in 2003 and made these recordings because the UofU demanded pay. They have called me Totally Permanently Disabled. ... more
