On the first part of the journey I was looking at all the life There were plants and birds and rocks and things There was sand and hills and rings The first thing I met was a fly with a buzz And the sky with no clouds The heat was hot and the ground was dry But the air was full of sound I've been through the desert on a horse with no name It felt good to be out of the rain In the desert you can remember your name 'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain La, la After two days in the desert sun My skin began to turn red After three days in the desert fun I was looking at a river bed And the story it told of a river that flowed Made me sad to think it was dead You see I've been through the desert on a horse with no name It felt good to be out of the rain In the desert you can remember your name 'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain La, la After nine days I let the horse run free 'Cause the desert had turned to sea There were plants and birds and rocks and things there was sand and hills and rings The ocean is a desert with it's life underground And a perfect disguise above Under the cities lies a heart made of ground But the humans will give no love You see I've been through the desert on a horse with no name It felt good to be out of the rain In the desert you can remember your name 'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain La, la © BUNNELL, DEWEY

A long long time ago I can still remember How that music used to make me smile And I knew if I had my chance That I could make those people dance And maybe they'd be happy for a while But February made me shiver With every paper I'd deliver Bad news on the doorstep I couldn't take one more step I can't remember if I cried When I read about his widowed bride But something touched me deep inside The day the music died ... So bye, bye Miss American Pie Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry And them good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye Singing this'll be the day that I die This'll be the day that I die Did you write the book of love And do you have faith in God above If the Bible tells you so? Now do you believe in rock and roll? Can music save your mortal soul? And can you teach me how to dance real slow? Well, I know that you're in love with him 'cause I saw you dancing in the gym You both kicked off your shoes Man, I dig those rhythm and blues I was a lonely teenage broncin' buck With a pink carnation and a pickup truck But I knew I was out of luck The day the music died I started singing Bye, bye Miss American Pie Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry And them good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye Singing this'll be the day that I die This'll be the day that I die Now, for ten years we've been on our own And moss grows fat on a rolling stone But that's not how it used to be When the Jester sang for the king and queen In a coat he borrowed from James Dean And a voice that came from you and me Oh and while the king was looking down The Jester stole his thorny crown The courtroom was adjourned No verdict was returned And while Lenin read a book on Marx The quartet practiced in the park And we sang dirges in the dark The day the music died We were singing Bye, bye Miss American Pie Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry And them good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye Singing this'll be the day that I die This'll be the day that I die Helter skelter in a summer swelter The birds flew off with a fallout shelter Eight miles high and falling fast Landed foul on the grass The players tried for a forward pass With the Jester on the sidelines in a cast Now the half-time air was sweet perfume While sergeants played a marching tune We all got up to dance Oh, but we never got the chance 'Cause the players tried to take the field The marching band refused to yield Do you recall what was revealed The day the music died? We started singing Bye, bye Miss American Pie Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry And them good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye Singing this'll be the day that I die This'll be the day that I die Oh, and there we were all in one place A generation lost in space With no time left to start again So come on Jack be nimble, Jack be quick Jack Flash sat on a candlestick 'Cause fire is the devil's only friend And as I watched him on the stage My hands were clenched in fists of rage No angel born in hell Could break that Satan's spell And as the flames climbed high into the night To light the sacrificial rite I saw Satan laughing with delight The day the music died He was singing Bye, bye Miss American Pie Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry And them good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye Singing this'll be the day that I die This'll be the day that I die I met a girl who sang the blues And I asked her for some happy news But she just smiled and turned away I went down to the sacred store Where I'd heard the music years before But the man there said the music wouldn't play And in the streets the children screamed The lovers cried, and the poets dreamed But not a word was spoken The church bells all were broken And the three men I admire most The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost They caught the last train for the coast The day the music died And they were singing Bye, bye Miss American Pie Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry And them good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye Singing this'll be the day that I die This'll be the day that I die they were singing Bye, bye Miss American Pie Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry And them good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye Singing this'll be the day that I die

We don't need no education We don't need no thought control No dark sarcasm in the classroom Teachers leave them kids alone Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone! All in all it's just another brick in the wall. All in all you're just another brick in the wall. We don't need no education We don't need no thought control No dark sarcasm in the classroom Teachers leave those kids alone Hey! Teachers! Leave those kids alone! All in all you're just another brick in the wall. All in all you're just another brick in the wall. "Wrong, do it again!" "If you don't eat yer meat, you can't have any pudding. How can you have any pudding if you don't eat yer meat?" "You! Yes, you behind the bike sheds, stand still laddy!"

I remember when rock was young Me and Suzie had so much fun Holding hands and skimming stones Had an old gold Chevy and a place of my own But the biggest kick I ever got Was doing a thing called the Crocodile Rock While the other kids were Rocking Round the Clock We were hopping and bopping to the Crocodile Rock Well Crocodile Rocking is something shocking When your feet just can't keep still I never knew me a better time and I guess I never will Oh Lawdy mama those Friday nights When Suzie wore her dresses tight And the Crocodile Rocking was out of sight La lalalala la lalalala la lalalala la But the years went by and the rock just died Suzie went and left us for some foreign guy Long nights crying by the record machine Dreaming of my Chevy and my old blue jeans But they'll never kill the thrills we've got Burning up to the Crocodile Rock Learning fast as the weeks went past We really thought the Crocodile Rock would last Well Crocodile Rocking is something shocking When your feet just can't keep still I never knew me a better time and I guess I never will Oh Lawdy mama those Friday nights When Suzie wore her dresses tight And the Crocodile Rocking was out of sight La lalalala la lalalala la lalalala la I remember when rock was young Me and Suzie had so much fun Holding hands and skimming stones Had an old gold Chevy and a place of my own But the biggest kick I ever got Was doing a thing called the Crocodile Rock While the other kids were Rocking Round the Clock We were hopping and bopping to the Crocodile Rock Well Crocodile Rocking is something shocking When your feet just can't keep still I never knew me a better time and I guess I never will Oh Lawdy mama those Friday nights When Suzie wore her dresses tight And the Crocodile Rocking was out of sight La lalalala la lalalala la lalalala la La lalalala la lalalala la lalalala la La lalalala la lalalala la lalalala la

Hey, hey, hey, hey Ooh, oh Won't you come see about me? I'll be alone, dancing, you know it baby Tell me your troubles and doubts Giving me everything inside and out And love's strange so real in the dark Think of the tender things that we were working on Slow change may pull us apart When the light gets into your heart, baby Don't you forget about me Don't, don't, don't, don't Don't you forget about me Will you stand above me? Look my way, never love me Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling Down, down, down Will you recognize me? Call my name or walk on by Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling Down, down, down, down Hey, hey, hey, hey Ooh, oh Don't you try to pretend It's my feeling, we'll win in the end I won't harm you or touch your defenses Vanity and security Don't you forget about me I'll be alone, dancing, you know it baby Going to take you apart I'll put us back together at heart, baby Don't you forget about me Don't, don't, don't, don't Don't you forget about me As you walk on by Will you call my name? As you walk on by Will you call my name? When you walk away Or will you walk away? Will you walk on by? Come on, call my name Will you call my name? I say, la la la When you walk on by And you call my name

I'm crying I'm dying I can see what's wrong with me It's in my head I can see what's gonna be As I lie in my bed Man is not my brotherhood I am of the dead I died as I lived as I loved and was born On some distant hill The reasons to hide were the reasons I cried Fools pass laughing still There can be bad blood in all I can see It's in my brain You don't know the pain I feel As I must live again Rocks and stones can't bruise my soul but Tears will leave a stain They smile to themselves as they lay down my head On some distant hill The blind and the child sweep a tear from their eye Fools smile as they kill I got my own way to go and now I want To take your minds I believe if you could see The blood between the lines I believe that you could be A better kind Please lead the way so the unborn can play On some greener hill Laugh as the flames eat their burning remains Fools die laughing still

Hey you, out there in the cold Getting lonely, getting old Can you feel me? Hey you, standing in the aisles With itchy feet and fading smiles Can you feel me? Hey you, don't help them to bury the light Don't give in without a fight Hey you out there on your own Sitting naked by the phone Would you touch me? Hey you with you ear against the wall Waiting for someone to call out Would you touch me? Hey you, would you help me to carry the stone? Open your heart, I'm coming home But it was only fantasy The wall was too high As you can see No matter how he tried He could not break free And the worms ate into his brain Hey you, out there on the road Always doing what you're told Can you help me? Hey you, out there beyond the wall Breaking bottles in the hall Can you help me? Hey you, don't tell me there's no hope at all Together we stand, divided we fall

I'm a highway star Nobody gonna take my girl I'm gonna keep her to the end Nobody gonna have my girl she stays close on every bend Ooh she's a killing machine she's got everything Like a moving mouth, body control and everything I Love her, I need her, I seed her Yeah she turns me on Alright hold tight I'm a highway star Nobody gonna take my head I got speed inside my brain Nobody gonna steal my head now that I'm on the road again Ooh I'm in heaven again I've got everything Like a moving ground, throttle control and everything I love it, I need it, I seed it Eight cylinders all mine Alright hold tight I'm a highway star Nobody gonna take my car I'm a highway star, I'm a highway star

Princess cards she sends me with her regards Barroom eyes shine vacancy, to see her you gotta look hard Wounded deep in battle, I stand stuffed like some soldier undaunted To her Cheshire smile, I'll stand on file, she's all I ever wanted But you let your blue walls get in the way of these facts Honey, get your carpetbaggers off my back You wouldn't even give me time to cover my tracks You said, "Here's your mirror and your ball and jacks" But they're not what I came for, and I'm sure you see that too [CHORUS] I came for you, for you, I came for you But you did not need my urgency I came for you, for you, I came for you But your life was one long emergency And your cloud line urges me And my electric surges free Crawl into my ambulance, your pulse is getting weak Reveal yourself all now to me, girl, while you've got the strength to speak 'Cause they're waiting for you at Bellevue with their oxygen masks But I could give it all to you now, if only you could ask And don't call for your surgeon, even he says it's too late It's not your lungs this time, it's your heart that holds your fate Don't give me my money, honey, I don't want it back You and your pony face and your Union Jack Well, take your local joker and teach him how to act I swear I was never that way, even when I really cracked Didn't you think I knew that you were born with the power of a locomotive Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound? And your Chelsea suicide with no apparent motive You could laugh and cry in a single sound And your strength is devastating in the face of all these odds Remember how I kept you waiting when it was my turn to be the god? You were not quite half so proud when I found you broken on the beach Remember how I poured salt on your tongue and hung just out of reach And the band, they played the homecoming theme as I caressed your cheek That ragged, jagged melody, she still clings to me like a leech But that medal you wore on your chest always got in the way Like a little girl with a trophy so soft to buy her way We were both hitchhikers but you had your ear tuned to the roar Of some metal-tempered engine on an alien, distant shore So you left to find a better reason than the one we were living for And it's not that nursery mouth that I came back for It's not the way you're stretched out on the floor 'Cause I've broken all your windows and I've rammed through all your doors And who am I to ask you to lick my sores? And you should know that's true [REPEAT CHORUS]

When I find myself in times of trouble, Mother Mary comes to me, Speaking words of wisdom, Let it be. And in the hour of darkness, She is standing right in front of me, Speaking words of wisdom, Let it be. Let it be, let it be, Let it be, let it be, Whisper words of wisdom, Let it be. And when the broken-hearted people, Living in the world agree, There will be an answer, Let it be. For though they may be parted, There is still a chance that they will see, There will be an answer, Let it be. Let it be, let it be, Let it be, let it be, There will be an answer, Let it be. Let it be, let it be, Let it be, let it be, Whisper words of wisdom, Let it be. (Instrumental Break) And when the night is cloudy, There is still a light that shines on me, Shine until tomorrow, Let it be. I wake up to sound of music, Mother Mary comes to me, Speaking words of wisdom, Let it be. Let it be, let it be, Let it be, let it be, There will be an answer, Let it be. Let it be, let it be, Let it be, let it be, Whisper words of wisdom, Let it be. Hoooo' hoooo'

I had a date with a pretty ballerina Her hair so brilliant that it hurt my eyes I asked her for this dance and then she obliged me Was I surprised, yeah Was I surprised, no not at all I called her yesterday, it should have been tomorrow I could not keep the joy that was inside I begged for her to tell me if she really loved me Somewhere a mountain is moving Afraid it's moving without me I had a date with a pretty ballerina Her hair so brilliant that it hurt my eyes I asked her for this dance and then she obliged me Was I surprised, yeah Was I surprised, no not at all And when I wake on a dreary Sunday morning I open up my eyes to find there's rain And something strange within said, "go ahead and find her Just close your eyes, yeah Just close your eyes and she'll be there" She'll be there...

We all came out to Montreux On the Lake Geneva shoreline To make records with a mobile We didn't have much time Frank Zappa and the Mothers Were at the best place around But some stupid with a flare gun Burned the place to the ground Smoke on the water, fire in the sky Smoke on the water They burned down the gambling house It died with an awful sound Funky Claude was running in and out Pulling kids out the ground When it all was over We had to find another place But Swiss time was running out It seemed that we would lose the race Smoke on the water, fire in the sky Smoke on the water We ended up at the Grand hotel It was empty cold and bare But with the Rolling truck Stones thing just outside Making our music there With a few red lights and a few old beds We make a place to sweat No matter what we get out of this I know we'll never forget Smoke on the water, fire in the sky Smoke on the water

Crazy Janey and her mission man Were back in the alley tradin hands Long came Wild Billy with his friend G-Man all duded up for Saturday night Well, Billy slammed on his coaster brakes And said, "anybody want to go on up to Greasy Lake?" It's about a mile down on the dark side of Route 88 I got a bottle of Rose, so let's try it We'll pick up Hazy Davy and Killer Joe And I'll take you all out to where the Gypsy angels go They're built like light and they dance like spirits in the night (All night) in the night (all night) Oh you don't know what they can do to you Spirits in the night (all night) In the night (all night) Stand right up now and let them shoot through you Well now, Wild Billy was a crazy cat And he shook some dust out of his coonskin cap He said, "trust some of this, it'll show you where it's at Or at least it'll really help you feel it" By the time we made it up to Greasy Lake I had my head out the window And Janey's fingers were in the cake I think I really dug her cause I was too loose to fake I said, "I'm hurt." She said, "Honey, let me heal it." And we danced all night to a soul fairy band And she kissed me just right like only a lonely angel can She felt so nice, just as soft as a spirit in the night (All night) in the night (all night) Janey don't know what she do to you Spirit in the night (all night) in the night (all night) Stand right up and let her shoot through me Now the night was bright and the stars Threw light on Billy and Davy dancin in the moonlight They were down near the water in a stone mud fight Killer Joe gone passed out on the lawn Well now, Hazy Davy got really hurt, He ran into the lake in just his socks and a shirt Me and crazy Janey was makin love in the dirt Singin our birthday song Janey said it ws time to go so we closed our eyes And said goodbye to Gypsy Angel Row, Felt so right together we moved like spirits in the night (all night)

We're caught in a trap I can't walk out Because I love you too much baby Why can't you see What you're doing to me When you don't believe a word I say? We can't go on together With suspicious minds And we can't build our dreams On suspicious minds So, if an old friend I know Drops by to say hello Would I still see suspicion in your eyes? Here we go again Asking where I've been You can't see these tears are real I'm crying We can't go on together With suspicious minds And we can't build our dreams On suspicious minds Oh let our love survive Or dry the tears from your eyes Let's don't let a good thing die When honey, you know I've never lied to you Mmm yeah, yeah

Standin' in the runway Wavin' at the plane There goes everything you own You called home collect And they didn't know your name Starin' at the telephone You thought he was a doctor Now he says he's not But the noises seem to tell for sure And according to the symptoms It isn't all you got A shame they haven't found a cure Didn't know the reason You start to feel the rub You know it isn't easy Well, welcome to the club Well, you thought they'd take it lightly They're actin' kinda rash Caught you in a loadin' zone So they smile very politely Relieved you of your cash Suddenly you're all alone You play the double agent You bug each other's phone You got the place surrounded There ain't nobody home It's gettin' hard to please 'em You start to feel the rub You know it isn't easy Well, welcome to the club Come on and join us in the club

about

Michael William Andersen Los Angeles, California

There was a Professional Rock Band in San Francisco in the Seventies. I had met Larry Hanson in about 1973 in Salt Lake City and he showed me how to play Rock Music. I thought I heard him on the radio with Styx after coming home from his house one day. I bought decent equipment in 2003 and made these recordings because the UofU demanded pay. They have called me Totally Permanently Disabled. ... more
